Let me introduce myself. I am Barbara Strobel Dellger and I use fabric and thread to create beautiful one of a kind art quilts.
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, majoring in graphic design.
I worked for several years and then began to raise a family. I started to quilt in the traditional style. However, with the blossoming of the art quilt and its acceptance into the mainstream art world, I found my niche. I began creating original works of my own designs, using raw-edged fusing as my technique and machine quilting them on my domestic Bernina Sewing Machine. It is on this road of creating that I was meant to travel.
One will notice that most of my work has been influenced by my surroundings and life in the city of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, which is situated not only on Lake Michigan but near the Kettle Moraine State Forest. My desire to focus on nature, wildlife, and small farms is due to that influence. My main goal is to bring peace and tranquility to the viewer.
I have been privileged to have had six of my art quilts published in three of the finest quilting magazines available. Quilt featured my "Great Horned Owl" , Art Quilting Studio featured "Urban Sprawl" in their 2013 issues, "Misty Morning" and "Goose Landing" in their 2015 issue, and "The Coffee Shoppe" in their 2016 issue. In addition, Machine Quilting Unlimited featured "Turkeys In The Birches" in their 2014 issue. In 2017 the summer issue of Art Quilting Studio will feature 3 of my owl quilts: "Great Horned Owl", "Hootlet", and "Barred Owl." I have been doing commission work as well and have sold many quilts to Hospitals, Assisted Living Facilities, and Children's Care Centers. I also do private commissions, so if you are interested you may email me at any time. I hope you enjoy viewing my work, and if you are interested in purchasing any of the available pieces, contact me or visit my Etsy Shoppe.
